John Smedley, veteran game developer behind hits like EverQuest and Planetside, has announced Reaper Actual—an open-world PC shooter with blockchain integration. The game will feature user-owned bases tradable as NFTs or through Web2 platforms, set on a map four times larger than Call of Duty: Warzone's Al Mazrah.

Distinct Possibility Studios, Smedley's newly formed company, has secured $30.5 million in funding. While blockchain games often face skepticism from traditional gamers, Smedley predicts mass adoption due to Reaper Actual's unique crypto implementation. Players can raid others' bases to loot vault items, blending shooter mechanics with digital ownership.
